South Korea has one of the highest plastics consumption per capita. From take-away coffees to construction materials, everyone is using plastic. Join the BCCK and industry experts for an ESG Talk on solutions for plastic use that will not harm the environment. Donald Morris, Country Manager from Cathay Pacific, will discuss the initiatives the airline is introducing to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics. Alexandra French, the CEO of Xampla, a British company that has been named the world's most promising materials innovation company, will talk about the natural and biodegradable material they have developed for eliminating plastic pollution, while Heewon Kang, Director of International Cooperation from the Korea Green Foundation, will introduce the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty (BCGPT) and how this is being viewed in Korea.
For the first time we will also be showcasing a work of art at our ESG Talk. Attendees can view a documentary on the making of Stranger to the Trees, a multimedia installation on the relationship between forests and plastic pollution, from international acclaimed British artist and researcher, Kat Austen.
At the end of November, politicians from around the world will come to Korea for the fifth meeting on the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5) on reducing plastic pollution. With this ESG Talk BCCK members can learn about this topic in advance of this important meeting.
This event is part of the ESG Talks, an ESG learning and development series from the BCCK and the British Embassy Seoul, providing a unique opportunity to engage, learn, and grow within the ever-evolving world of ESG. The event will feature a unique format called "Speed Geeking" with short talks from each presenter. Guests will rotate between speakers for informal discussions and Q&A sessions.
- This is a free event exclusively for BCCK members, their staff, and clients. Following the event there will be drinks and networking.
